The “we” of Little Blackfoot Rods is Duane Zehr. Duane builds out of his shop in Helena, where he also teaches. His building philosophy is centered around the intersection of beauty and function. The rods are built to function as fine, high-end tools. Fly fishing is not simply an action, however. Aesthetics are part of the experience. Therefore, these fine tools need to combine function with beauty in a way fitting of the fishing experience.

While Duane spends most of his fishing days on the rivers and creeks of Montana, Little Blackfoot rods have been fished from the Smoky Mountains to the Pennsylvanian spring creeks to midwestern smallie water to the Western waters. Reports have been that the fish have responded with equal approval across the country.
